A computer MOT.
Before it becomes a repair.

Internal cleans, health checks, virus and spyware removal, driver and security updates, and ongoing protection that’s monitored rather than left to a nag screen. For homes, offices and everything between.

Computers don't fail suddenly.
They're ignored gradually.

Pop-ups, a fan that never stops, four minutes to reach the desktop, none of it is normal, and all of it is fixable long before it turns into a dead machine and a data recovery bill.

A machine nobody maintains

Clogged with dust, cooking itself

Fans roaring, temperatures in the 90s, and a processor quietly throttling to half speed to survive.

Minutes to start up

Twenty programs launching at boot, a drive full of temporary files, and everyone accepting it as “just old”.

Pop-ups, toolbars and adware

Browser hijacks and “your PC is infected” scareware, usually installed alongside something else entirely.

An expired antivirus nag screen

A trial that lapsed years ago, dismissed every morning, protecting nothing at all.

No warning before it dies

Drives give months of notice in their SMART data. Nobody’s reading it, so the first sign is a machine that won’t boot.

A machine on a service schedule

Cleaned inside, running cool

Dust cleared from heatsink, fans and filters, fresh thermal paste, and temperatures back where they belong.

Boots in seconds again

Startup trimmed, junk cleared, drive optimised: the machine you remember buying, without buying another one.

Genuinely clean, and staying clean

Full virus and spyware sweep, browsers reset, then protection that’s actually licensed and monitored.

Updates that get installed

Windows, drivers and virus definitions kept current, so security patches don’t sit waiting for a restart forever.

Told before it fails

Drive health checked at every service, we’d rather move your data early than recover it late.

The Computer MOT,
six checks, one visit.

Pop-ups, error messages and a machine that takes an age to start up all get dealt with in the same service. Every step below is carried out, and you get the findings in writing.

01

Fault diagnostics

A full check for components that are failing or have already failed: power supply, memory, storage, cooling and board, so nothing is missed while it’s open.

Hardware

02

Driver updates & configuration

Chipset, graphics, network and peripheral drivers brought up to date and configured correctly, a surprising amount of “slow” and “crashing” starts here.

Software

03

Virus & spyware removal

A full search of the system for malicious threats, adware and browser hijacks, removed properly rather than quarantined and forgotten.

Security

04

Temporary files & drive optimisation

Years of temporary files, caches and installer leftovers cleared, and the drive optimised, often tens of gigabytes recovered and a noticeably quicker machine.

Performance

05

Operating system & antivirus updates

Windows security updates installed and virus definitions brought current, so the machine is patched against what’s actually circulating now.

Security

06

Full internal clean

Dust cleared from the heatsink, fans, filters and case, with fresh thermal paste where needed. Lower temperatures, quieter fans, and components that last longer.

Hardware

Your files, software and settings are left exactly as they are, an MOT is a service, not a fresh start.

Everything that keeps a machine
healthy between repairs.

One-off services or ongoing cover, at home, in your office, or remotely while you carry on working.

Internal cleaning

Dust removed from heatsinks, fans, filters and power supply, with fresh thermal paste. The single most overlooked job on any computer.

Virus & spyware removal

Malware, adware, browser hijacks and scareware found and removed, with browsers and search settings reset to how they should be.

Ongoing virus protection

Licensed antivirus installed, configured and kept current, with alerts coming to us, and a monthly check that it’s still doing its job.

Updates & patching

Windows, drivers, firmware and application updates installed and checked, including the ones that keep failing quietly in the background.

Backup setup & checks

Backups configured to somewhere that isn’t the same machine, then actually tested: cloud, external drive or both.

Health monitoring

Drive SMART data, temperatures, disk space and error logs checked at each service, so problems are caught while they’re still cheap.

Dust is not cosmetic.
It's the thing killing it.

A clogged heatsink is the most common cause of a computer that’s loud, slow and shutting itself down, and it’s a service job, not a repair. Every degree matters: heat is what ages capacitors, drives and processors.

Before · clogged

80+°C

What we usually find

Heatsink fins packed solid, airflow near zero

Fans running flat out and still losing

Thermal paste dried to powder

Processor throttling, slow under any real load

Random shutdowns blamed on Windows

After · serviced

58°C

What a clean actually does

Heatsink, fans, filters and PSU cleared properly

Fresh thermal paste on CPU and GPU

Full speed restored, no more throttling

Quieter, cooler, and noticeably longer-lived

Failing fans spotted and replaced while it’s open

Typical figures from Desktop machines we service, yours will differ. Annual cleaning is the sensible interval for most; every six months in dusty workshops or homes with pets.

Antivirus isn't a purchase.
It's a service.

Installing it is ten minutes. Keeping it licensed, updated, actually scanning and, crucially, being told when it finds something, is the part that gets dropped. That’s the part we run for you.

Phishing awareness advice

Businesses with several machines: this is normally delivered as part of an IT support plan with central reporting.

Booked in to
back in service.

Four steps, whether it’s a one-off MOT or the first visit on a plan.

01Step 1 of 4
Step 01 · Health check

Find out what state it's actually in

Temperatures, drive health, memory, startup load, disk space and what's installed that shouldn't be. These checks tells us whether this is a service, a repair or a machine worth replacing.

  • Hardware & SMART check
  • Startup & software review
  • Honest verdict first
Step 02 · Clean

Inside and out

Case opened, heatsink, fans, filters and power supply cleared of dust, thermal paste replaced where it's dried out. Then the software side: junk files, caches and years of accumulated startup clutter.

  • Full internal clean
  • Fresh thermal paste
  • Junk & startup cleared
Step 03 · Secure

Scan, remove, then patch

Full virus and spyware sweep, adware and browser hijacks removed, then Windows, drivers and virus definitions brought current, and antivirus properly licensed rather than a lapsed trial.

  • Malware removal
  • Updates installed
  • Protection licensed
Step 04 · Report & return

Kept informed, and diarised

You get the before-and-after: temperatures, boot time, what was removed, drive health, and anything we'd keep an eye on. On a plan, the next service is booked so it doesn't drift another three years.

Priced on machine count and site

Bring your device into our offices or remote sessions are available, most software work can be done without the machine leaving your desk.

Home machines, office fleets,
and everything odd.

Windows and Mac, desktops and laptops, one machine or thirty across an office.

Maintenance finds things.
These fix them.

A service often turns up a dying drive or a machine that’s simply short of memory. Everything’s quoted before anything happens.

Repairs & upgrades

Failing power supplies, dying drives, SSD and memory upgrades, motherboards and processors, diagnosed from £20 and quoted before any work starts.

IT support

Several machines, servers, networks and email, maintained centrally with monitoring, patching and a helpdesk, rather than machine by machine.

Microsoft 365 & backup

OneDrive set up properly, mail on your own domain, and independent daily backups, so a dead computer stops being a data emergency.

Common questions

Before you book it in.

Once a year for most machines. Every six months if it lives in a dusty environment, a workshop, or a home with pets, and sooner than either if the fans are already loud or it’s shutting itself down.

No. A maintenance service leaves your files, software, licences and settings exactly as they are. We’re removing dust, junk and malware, not reinstalling Windows. If a clean reinstall genuinely is the right answer, we’ll tell you first and back everything up before touching anything.

It’s a reasonable baseline and much better than it used to be, but only if it’s actually enabled, updated and someone is watching what it finds. The gap we fill is the watching: alerts coming to us, quarantine reviewed, and repeat infections investigated rather than dismissed.

For online banking and for businesses we provide hardened endpoint protection. See our Antivirus page to learn more.

The health check answers that. Often a clean-up and tune-up transforms it. If it’s running a mechanical hard drive or is short of memory, we’ll say so, an SSD upgrade is usually the single biggest improvement available and still far cheaper than a new machine.

Most MOTs are same-day. Software work: malware removal, updates, tune-ups, can often be done remotely while you watch, with no drop-off at all. Only the internal clean genuinely needs the machine in front of us.

Yes, home visits and office visits locally as well as drop-off at the workshop. Remote sessions worldwide.
