We work on the parts inside the case rather than swapping the case. That’s usually the difference between a bill in the tens and a bill in the hundreds.
Power supply repair & upgrade
Dead units, failing rails, random shutdowns and units too weak for a new graphics card. Tested under real load, not just switched on.
Hard drive & SSD
The single most effective upgrade there is. Failing drives replaced, mechanical disks swapped for SSDs, everything cloned across as it was.
Motherboard repair
No-POST, port and power-related motherboard faults diagnosed to identify the cause and repaired where practical, or resolved with a compatible replacement board where necessary.
Processor & cooling
CPU upgrades within your board’s socket, plus the cooling that makes them worth having: new coolers, fresh paste, thermal throttling fixed.
Memory (RAM)
Faulty modules found by full memory testing, and capacity increases that stop the machine crawling the moment you open more than three tabs.
Optical & DVD drives
Discs not reading, trays that won’t open, drives that vanished from the system, replaced, or removed to free up a bay if you no longer need one.
Cases, fans & cabling
Broken front panels, dead case fans, snapped USB ports, rattles and a tangle of cable that’s obstructing airflow. Tidied and put right.
Graphics cards
Crashing under load, fans screaming or no display at all. Cleaned, re-pasted and tested, or upgraded if your work has outgrown it.
Software, OS & virus removal
Windows that won’t boot, corrupt profiles, driver conflicts, malware and the slow crawl of years of accumulated junk. Repaired without wiping if we can.

Most "slow old computers"

How much is a diagnostic?
Diagnostics start from £20. More intricate or in-depth work: intermittent faults that need soak testing, component swap testing, or board-level and liquid damage inspection, is £30. Either way the fee is credited against the repair if you go ahead, so you’re not paying twice.
Will I get a price before any work happens?
Always. Once the fault is identified you get a fixed written quote covering parts, labour and turnaround. Nothing is ordered or fitted until you approve it, and if the job changes once we’re inside, we stop and call you.
Will I lose my files?
No. Repairs and upgrades keep your data, even an SSD upgrade is normally a clone, so your Windows, software and settings arrive back exactly as they were. Where a clean reinstall genuinely is the right answer, we back your data up first and tell you before doing it.
My computer is slow. Do I need a new one?
Usually not. Most “slow” machines are running a mechanical hard drive or short of memory, and an SSD plus a RAM upgrade transforms them for a fraction of a replacement. If the machine really is too old to be worth the parts, we’ll tell you that instead of selling you an upgrade.
How long does a repair take?
Typically 24-72 hours for standard repairs with parts we stock. Anything that needs ordering is usually fitted the day it arrives. We’ll give you a realistic timescale with the quote, not an optimistic one.
Do you repair custom-built and gaming PCs?
Yes, including machines nobody will support because no manufacturer made them. Custom builds, water-cooled rigs, workstations and small form factor cases are all routine for us.
It's clicking or grinding. What should I do?
Turn it off and bring it in. Mechanical noise from a hard drive means it’s failing, and every extra hour of use risks the data. We image the drive first and recover before attempting anything else.
Can you come to us?
Hardware work is done in the Birmingham workshop where the tools and test equipment are. We offer collection and return for business customers across the West Midlands, and remote support for software issues as part of IT support.

You pay the diagnostic and nothing else. We’ll tell you what’s wrong, what it would cost elsewhere if it’s specialist work, and what we’d recommend instead, including recovering your data so it moves to whatever comes next.
