Broken, cracked or smashed
Spider-web cracks, a dark blot spreading from the impact point, or glass lifting from the bezel.

Readable in the dark, useless in daylight. Usually a failing backlight or inverter rather than the LCD itself.

Blotches and liquid leakage
Dark clouds or coloured pooling that grows over weeks. The panel is physically damaged and will keep spreading.

A blank white raster usually means the ribbon cable has come loose or the panel connection has failed.

How much does a laptop screen repair cost?
It depends entirely on the panel your model takes. A standard 15.6″ FHD panel is at the lower end; a 4K OLED touch assembly is several times that. Send us the model or serial number and we’ll give you a fixed price, or bring it in for a free diagnosis.
How long will it take?
Commonly stocked panels are typically fitted within 24-48 hours of approval. Less common panels and glued lid assemblies are ordered for delivery and fitted the day they arrive. We’ll tell you which yours is when we quote.
Will I lose my files or have to set everything up again?
No. A screen replacement doesn’t touch the drive: no wipe, no reinstall, no migration. Your files, software, licences and logins are exactly as you left them. We’d still recommend a backup before any repair, as a matter of principle.
Is it just the screen, or something more serious?
That’s what the free diagnosis establishes. A black or lined display can be the panel, the display cable, the backlight or the graphics chip. Connecting an external monitor is the first test: if that picture is perfect, the fault is in the lid.
Can you repair a cracked screen, or does it need replacing?
Cracked LCD and OLED panels can’t be repaired, because the damage is inside the layers, which is why blotches spread. The panel is replaced. Cracked bezels, lids and hinges around it often can be repaired.
Do you use original manufacturer parts?
We fit panels matched to your model’s original specification for resolution, finish, brightness, refresh rate and connector, from established suppliers, with a 3-month warranty. Where genuine OEM parts are available and you’d prefer them, we’ll quote both.
My laptop is quite old. Is it worth fixing?
Often yes, but we’ll say so if it isn’t. If the panel costs a large share of what the machine is worth, or the rest of it is failing too, we’ll tell you straight and talk about pairing it with an SSD and memory upgrade instead, or a replacement.
Can you come to us?
Screen work is done in our Birmingham workshop, because it needs the bench and the tools. We do offer collection and return locally in Great Barr and Burntwood, and priority turnaround for clients on a support contract.
Do you fix MacBook screens?
Yes. Retina displays are bonded assemblies rather than bare panels, so the whole lid assembly is replaced. Dearer than a standard laptop panel, but still far less than a new machine. We’ll quote before ordering.
